Against this magnificent backdrop roam vast herds of elephants which will stroll within easy camera-shot and you can feel the thrill of being in the wild, wild Africa accompanied by a kaleidoscope of other fabulous beasts - lion, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, baboon, gazelle, hippo and wildebeest to name but a few. There are also over 400 species of birds, all manner of reptilian, flora and fauna and some of the most soul-searing views in Africa. Lodge: Serena Lodge Amboseli. (BLD)

Day 9 Today we drive up on the edge of Ngorongoro Crater. Often referred to as the “Garden of Eden”, the Crater has one of the highest concentrations of animals in Africa. This is the largest non-flooded volcano crater in the world. Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge is perched on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater at 7,500 feet above sea level (with a 2,000 feet sheer drop down to the crater floor), with spectacular and unsurpassed views over the crater’s great bowl. The lounge features a fireplace and panoramic windows that give on to a terrace serving as an observation deck for the crater below. Often described as the world’s eighth wonder, Ngorongoro offers the opportunity of viewing an amazing variety of wild animal life in a concentrated area with its unforgettable blue-tinted slopes, swampy grasslands, lakes, rivers, woodlands and hills. This veritable Garden of Eden is home to ostrich, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, hartebeest, warthog, long eared foxes, jackal, hyena, lion, cheetah, and the very rare black rhino, in all, some 30,000 animals inhabit the crater. Day 10 -12 Leaving the Crater early this morning we enter the world famous Serengeti National Park where we will spend the next 2 days tracking the migration. Along the way you can expect to see all kinds of game, perhaps even some of the migration, before we reach the Lodge at Seronera for the night. During the night lions and hyenas often frequent the grounds, as well as baboons and elephants. For those that wish to take to the air, the famous Serengeti Balloon ride, departs at dawn (optional). For those that wish to view game by vehicle, first thing in the morning we will be game driving around the magnificent park, with zebra, wildebeest and gazelles all very close. If we are very lucky a pride of lion or a solitary leopard will put in an appearance. There is plenty of game to be seen on the vast savannah lands. Today we move toward Lobo Wildlife Lodge, game driving enroute. Lobo Wildlife Lodge is situated over the Serengeti Plains and has been constructed on a rocky outcrop with the swimming pool having been built on a rock deck. The viewing deck and pool overlook the wide open plains and a water hole - which encourages a variety of visitors during the day and night. At night the water hole is lit, attracting interesting nocturnal animals, leopard, lion, cheetah and hyena are often seen in close proximity. Wildebeest move through the northern woodlands in most years from June - December to feed on the longer grasses that persist in this area. Lodge: Lobo Lodge and Seronera Lodge. (BLD)

Perhaps you would like to sample the famous night markets, where a plateful of seafood, freshly cooked and washed down by a glass of sugar juice will round off your day. There are many activities to do on Zanzibar, from swimming with dolphins to walking with red Colobus monkeys, visiting the old slave markets or simply head for the paradise beach that awaits you. Watching dhows cruise past in the sunset as you drink a cocktail from a fresh coconut will make you realize you are truly in paradise. Hotel: Fumba Beach Lodge. (B)
