A 28-day African safari traverses all the attractions of Southern Africa, the African tribes and wildlife.  You will visit private animal rehabilitation and animal breeding centres, the Jane Goodall’s Chimpanzee Sanctuary,   Kruger National Park, Drakensberg Mountains, the Blyde river canyon and Gods Window and Pilgrims Rest. Experience the largest private breeding herd of black and white rhino and other endangered species. Visit a Matsamo cultural village. Experience the rhythmic battle dances of warriors, traditional rain dances, and tribal rituals that make up the lives of the Matsamo culture. Experience the thrill of an elephant back safari, and see wildlife at its best. Fly to Victoria Falls to see one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.  Join Clive and enjoy the thrilling experience of walking with lions, then sit back and relax on a boat cruise up the Chobe River, travel on to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. The Etosha Pans in Namibia are one of the most famous game sanctuaries in the world. The animals here are dependent on the pans for their survival.   We visit the unforgettable Sossusvlei and view the seal colonies on the Skeleton coast in Namibia.  Cultural experiences also include the Himba, Herero and the Bushman (San) tribes in Namibia.
The scenic diversity is enormous, from forests and waterfalls to bushveld and desert, mountains and open plains to the Delta. Animal and bird diversities encountered during this safari are unsurpassed. Traveling is balanced between good gravel and bitumen roads to occasional sandy 4x4 work.

DAY 1
Arrive Johannesburg, meet with Getaway tours and drive to Nelspruit, lunch en-route to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Leisure afternoon.

Day2-3
View chimps in the morning after breakfast, then depart for Thanda Nani.  After lunch we depart for the Matsamo cultural village near Swaziland. Dinner at the village.  Next morning a game drive at Thanda Nani before breakfast. Leisure morning, lunch at Thanda Nani. Afternoon game drive at the Rhino sanctuary with sundowners.

DAY 4-5         
After breakfast we depart Thanda Nani for the Kruger National Park, we travel North for a full day’s game drive and experience 2 nights in Kruger’s wonderful camps. We also visit the Elephant museum at Letaba.

DAY 6-7         
This morning after breakfast we leave the Kruger National park and head for Forest camp at Moholoholo rehabilitation centre.  Here we do a night drive, an elephant walk, and visit the rehabilitation centre.  If possible Clive will organise a private Vulture feeding session in the afternoon.

DAY 8                                         
After breakfast we depart for the Blyde river canyon, Gods window then onto Johannesburg and overnight at an Hotel near the airport.  Accommodation Johannesburg Hotel. DB

DAY 9-10.                                    
After breakfast depart for the airport for flight to Vic Falls and the Vic Falls Hotel. Visit the falls in the afternoon. Early the next morning Clive will take you for an experience of a lifetime ‘walking with lions’. Leisure afternoon where we recommend an optional helicopter flight over the falls or a visit to the craft market.

Day 11-12       
Leisure morning, depart for Chobe with Getaway tours in the afternoon, book in at a Chobe lodge. Rising early for a morning game drive, a late breakfast, then an afternoon boat cruise game viewing on the Chobe River.

DAY 13-14.    
After breakfast we leave Chobe and travel through the Chobe National Park, and on to Guma Lodge in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. We stay overnight in Guma’s en-suite safari tents, dinner in the Boma. Full day driving. We leave the Lodge by boat and then meet the Makorros deep in the Delta; we travel through the canals, have a picnic on an Island and return late afternoon to Guma Lodge.  Accommodation Guma. DB

DAY 15-16.    
Depart Guma Lodge after breakfast for journey to Namibia and Roy’s camp, Leisure afternoon.  The following day after breakfast we walk with the Bushman, we see how they hunt and gather! An unforgettable experience.

DAY 17-21.    
Early morning breakfast we then head for Etosha for 4 days. Game viewing in this area is unsurpassed.  Etosha means “a place of dry water”. Enjoy daily game drives along the salt pans, stopping at various waterholes, which support one of the most important ecological and wildlife systems on the continent. Experience night viewing from game hides situated at the waterhole at your camp.

DAY 22.  
Today we leave Etosha and head toward Kamanjab; we arrive early afternoon, have a light lunch at the hotel, and then travel to where we will meet the Himba people.

DAY 23.  
Heading for Henties bay on the Namib-desert coast, we visit the seal colony and see our first sights of the Atlantic Ocean.

DAY 24.  
Leave Henties Bay after breakfast, travel to Swakopmund. As this is a leisure day you can shop or visit the local historical sites. Swakopmund, known as Swakop in Namibia is the country’s biggest coastal town. The city’s German origins are quite pronounced in beautiful old German Colonial buildings throughout the city, making an even starker contrast for this town sitting at the edge of the Namib Desert.

DAY 25-26.    
After breakfast we depart Swakopmund and head for Sossusvlei through the Namib Desert. Look out for the Oryx, Cape foxes, black backed jackal, springbok and meercats. The next morning we leave very early to visit the huge sand dunes at Sossusvlei. Picnic breakfast on arrival.  For the adventurous, climb the massive dunes.

DAY 27.  
Today we head for Windhoek. Leisure afternoon.

DAY 28.  
After breakfast transfer to Windhoek airport for your flight to Johannesburg. Overnight in Johannesburg.
