This 22-day African safari traverses all the attractions of Southern Africa, the African tribes and wildlife. You will visit private animal rehabilitation and animal breeding centres, the Jane Goodall’s Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Kruger National Park, Drakensberg Mountains, the Blyde river canyon. Visit a Matsamo cultural village. Experience the rhythmic battle dances of warriors, traditional rain dances, and tribal rituals that make up the lives of the Matsamo culture. Experience the thrill of an elephant back safari, and see wildlife at its best. Fly to Victoria Falls to see one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Join Clive and enjoy the thrilling experience of walking with lions, then sit back and relax on a boat cruise up the Chobe River, travel on to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. The Etosha Pans in Namibia are one of the most famous game sanctuaries in the world. The animals here are dependent on the pans for their survival. Cultural experiences also include the Himba, Herero and the Bushman (San) tribes in Namibia. The scenic diversity is enormous, from forests and waterfalls to bushveld and desert, mountains and open plains to the Delta. Animal and bird diversities encountered during this safari are unsurpassed. Travelling is balanced between good gravel and bitumen roads.
DAY 1-2 Arrive Johannesburg, and drive towards the Kruger National Park to a private game reserve where you will unpack and relax. For the next 2 days you will visit various private reserves. Visit chimps, visit the Matsamo village and enjoy your first game drive in the Kruger National Park. Lodge Accommodation. (BD)
DAY 3-5 For the next 3 days we will spend game viewing in the Kruger National park, we travel North and overnight in a Kruger camp. We visit the Elephant museum in the Kruger national park. Dinner at the camp restaurant. Lodge Accommodation Kruger National Park. (BD)
DAY 6-7 Today after breakfast we head for Orpen gate and on to Forest Lodge, where we will stay for the next 2 nights. Experience an early morning elephant walk, return for a late breakfast, and a visit to the rehabilitation centre. Enjoy your first night drive, look out for those nocturnal animals. DAY 8 After an early morning walk then breakfast we depart for the Blyde river canyon, we visit the canyon, Gods Window & travel on to Johannesburg. Dinner for own account. Hotel Accommodation at Johannesburg Hotel. (B)
DAY 9 After breakfast we depart to the airport for your flight to Victoria Falls and the Victoria Falls Hotel. Visit the falls in the afternoon. Dinner for own account. Hotel Accommodation Victoria Falls Hotel. (B)
DAY 10 -11 Today we will have an early morning ‘walk with lions’, return to hotel after breakfast for an optional helicopter flight over the falls or visit the craft market. This afternoon we will depart for Botswana where you will spend the next 2 nights in lodges overlooking the Chobe River. Enjoy an early morning game drive in the Chobe National Park and an afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River where you can watch elephant, hippos crocodiles, buffalo and antelope species from the comfort of your boat. Day 12 Today we head for the Caprivi Strip, where we will drive to the banks of the Kwando River. Afternoon game drive in the famous Mudumo National Park. In contrast to the rest of Namibia the area is lush with riverine forests, marshes, dense savannah and mopane woodland. We will overnight at a Kwando Lodge. Lodge Accommodation Kwando. (BLD)
Day 13-14 We leave our camp at Kwando this morning for a full day’s drive into the Okavango Delta where we will spend the next 2 nights in luxury safari tents. On the second morning we leave the Lodge by boat and then meet the Mokorros deep in the Delta; we travel through the canals and waterways, have a picnic on an Island and return late afternoon to the Lodge. Day 15 After breakfast we depart Guma Lodge for your journey to Roys Camp the gateway to Bushmanland. Here you will appreciate the rustic furnishings and thatch bungalows that sit tranquilly beneath towering trees. Lodge Accommodation Roys Camp. (BLD)

Day 16-19 An early morning walk with the Bushman, we see how they hunt and gather! This afternoon we head for Etosha National Park. We will fill the next few days with game drives in Etosha, this is one of the best wildlife reserves in Africa. In the evenings there is game viewing around the floodlit waterholes. Do not miss the wonderful photographic opportunities in this magnificent reserve. Lodge accommodation Etosha. (BLD)
Day 20 We head for Kamanjap. Here we visit the Himba Village. This will be a journey of culture exchange and understanding of one of our last traditional tribes in Namibia “The Ova Himba.” Lodge Accommodation. (BLD)
Day 21 We leave Kamanjap and head south, along the way we will meet the Herero people with their Victorian dress! Then on to Windhoek. Dinner for own account at Joe’s beer house! Windhoek Hotel Accommodation. (B)
Day 22 Transfer to Windhoek airport for your flight to JNB or onward flight home. (B)
SOSSUSVLEI OPTION
Day 1 Depart Windhoek for Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert, the scenery en-route is varied; look out for Meerkats on the way.
Day 2 Early morning dune walk, look at the spectacular views of the dunes, and colours of the sand. After your walk you return to Windhoek.
Day 3 Depart Windhoek for flight to Johannesburg. Depending on your departure flight from Windhoek you may have to overnight in Johannesburg. |
